Sinopsis:
1 tahun setelah insiden SAO, Kirito didekati oleh Seijiro Kikuoka dari Jepang Kementerian Dalam Negeri dan Komunikasi Departemen “Divisi VR” dengan permintaan agak aneh.
Itu penyelidikan pada “Death Gun” insiden yang terjadi di pistol dan baja diisi VRMMO disebut Gun Gale online (GGO). “Pemain yang ditembak oleh seorang avatar misterius dengan pistol hitam jet kehilangan nyawa mereka bahkan di dunia nyata …” Gagal untuk menolak permintaan aneh Kikuoka itu, Kirito log in ke GGO meskipun ia tidak sepenuhnya yakin bahwa dunia maya bisa secara fisik mempengaruhi dunia nyata.
Kirito mengembara di dunia asing untuk mendapatkan petunjuk apapun tentang “Death Gun.” Kemudian, seorang penembak jitu perempuan bernama Sinon yang memiliki raksasa “Hecate II” senapan meluas Kirito uluran tangan. Dengan bantuan Sinon itu, Kirito memutuskan untuk memasukkan “Bullet dari Bullets,” sebuah turnamen besar untuk memilih penembak paling kuat dalam bidang GGO, dengan harapan untuk menjadi target dari “Death Gun” dan melakukan kontak langsung dengan avatar misterius .
